I saw Dennis at a comedy club in Chicago, about 20 years ago. Only comedian I've ever heard who talked about Richelieu.

What was the problem (if you can bear to relive it again)?He was just absolutely awful.. He did not know much about football at all (say what you want about Rush's comments that got him in trouble, at least the guy knew the sport), so he made up for it by trying to crack jokes, which weren't funny at all and caused awkward periods of silence in which the other announcers tried to figure out what exactly he was even talking about.
The funny thing is, I used to be a big fan of his original HBO show. But when it came to MNF, I wanted to punch him in the face every time he spoke.

You can read the situation on the field and Dennis's far-too-erudite commentary (and reviews / research on those)
here. Doesn't seem he really fit there. I think Rush would have.
