My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

It makes me cough just to look at that air. I can’t imagine anyone running in that stuff - of their own free will.

I hope all those who just have to go to the Olympics in China have the fun of trying to watch gasping runners through a hazy patch of cruddy air. Ought to make the Chinese reconsider the face issue, after all how can you lose face when it can’t been seen for the air!

We’re all going to have fun watching long distance runners do it with oxygen tanks on their backs.

I come bearing a children’s poem I wrote:

The Foxes

When the autumn comes,
and the leaves fall red and gold,
see the foxes play,
dressing up before the cold
“I’m pretty!” they say
with maple leaves in their hair.

When the winter comes
and the snow lies on the ground,
foxes go to den
their tails wrapped tightly around
their cold noses then,
no room at home to play in.

But when the spring comes
The foxes will run to play
wearing wild flowers
gathered on a sunny day
dancing for hours,
happy for the new season.

(it’s loosely based on a Japanese children’s song, based in turn on a German folk song. Funny how those things can work....LOL)

One more poem:

Rose Petal

Sweet softness - I touch
a blown petal fresh fallen
rub its velvet skin
over my less soft fingers,
sniff the fragrance left behind.

The color almost
the color of his lips,
the touch cold, not warm,
although the softness as sweet.
Sighing, I drop it and wait.

One last one: Someone wrote some really neat music to this, too: (background note: The speaker in this poem is a widow, and knows she will soon pass on, and that her child is doomed to a hard life:)

Izayoi Contemplates the Future: A Ballade

O little boy with silver hair,
Your father’s eyes look out at me
From your sweet face without a care,
You know not of the hate to be.
I long to keep you safe, you see
To wrap your little life with joy
The days will come when you must flee
For I must leave my lovely boy.

You are a child of love most rare,
The proof my lover left with me,
His amber eyes and silver hair —
You are a living memory
Of all we hoped when we were free
Before cruel fates made us its toy
And took your father far from me,
Away from his most precious boy.

I hate the fate that you will bear
Because your father died, you see -
None to protect the child so rare
My heart cries out for what must be -
Your father’s spirit calls for me,
And I will leave you without joy
When my soul follows his to be
At peace, my poor and orphaned boy.

And when that day has come to be,
I’ll pray for you to find the joy
That true love brings, to set you free
From all this grief, my lovely boy.

The music for this:

I was incredibly amazed. Weird enough that I would write a ballade...

Dear Knitting, such a treasure trove of delicate and beautiful poetry - with music, we find in the Lair this morning.

A truly splendid gift of verse, thank you. All the pieces are written with the lit touch of hand and painted with the softest of colors.

The Ballade is an exquisite piece of work.
