I don't think Cook should be dragged in politically here. It's just the writer trying to tell us that he's WAY more hip than American Idol, or someone who would sing a song from a Christian rock group, or become a bartender. You know, the writer is just too cutting edge for Nickelback blah blah.

Like a kid in high school who wears orange hair to get attention. "Look at me! I'm different!"

Thing is, most of us went thru our rebellion stage in junior high.
