The write up is very interesting. A fog bow is similar to a "glory"
(wiki). The next time you are in an airplane look for the airplane's shadow and sometimes you'll see one.

Years ago I saw a round rainbow around the sun after a big storm—is that also called a ‘glory’, or something else? One of the most beautiful and weirdest things I’ve ever seen! :-)

I used to have a great picture of my shadow with a glory when I was at the top of Mt. Lassen. Early in the morning with only the very top of the peak above the clouds. I lost it sometime when I moving around though.
