Leave her alone. Let's do some forensic work on the comment instead. I read it to mean that we should believe snake-oil salesmen now because socialists (and other watermelons) hijacked the “Save the Earth!” movement then.

Does it make a difference when the hijack occurred, or whether some people had ulterior motives at the very beginning? I don't think so. I suppose we can assume that the professor(s) here have sinister motives, but what of the learning exercise? I did something similar in high school, and that was in the 1970's.

The subject matter was the Middle East. I was assigned to negotiate on behalf of the Palestinians (the teacher pulled the plug when I talked Israel into handing over the Sinai Peninsula, but I digress). Assuming the teacher had sinister motives, that means she was trying to turn me into an intifada-type, yes?
