Clarence White.
Those who know _who_ he was, know why.
Clarence was killed in 1973 at age 29 by a drunk driver, but his influence lives on today - perhaps the most influential acoustic guitarist of his time.

Also, Ry Cooder. There’s no one else like him.

Also, David Bromberg. I remember going to many, many of his shows around the New York area. Perhaps the first “folk orchestra”!

He played the parts seen as being done by Ralph Machio in "Crossroads." The movie sort of sucked. But if you can find a soundtrack album from the movie, and you like or love blues, BUY IT! It's AWESOME!!!!!

It would have been nice had they gotten the guitar duel between Ry Cooder and Steve Via from the movie onto the soundtrack, but my guess is that Steve was under contract by another publishing house, and they wouldn't allow it.
