Man!! We’re 125 posts into this, and no one has put up Chicago’s original drummer from the 70’s - Danny Seraphine. The guy had all the chops in the world, and may have been the most lyrical drummer everywhere. Mind-boggling talent.

Bill -- I'm not sure. Oh, that was absolutely Baker doing 'Toad', but I wonder if that was the Fillmore East concert. Baker had just got into the solo there, and Bruce walked right up in front of the drum set and hit those 4 famous chords, BAH, BAH, BAM, BOOM, then walked offstage. Didn't seem that way in this video. But, heck, maybe my memory's going...
Lotta fun watching it though, and THANK YOU! And, you're quite right, the cameraman in this video must have been smokin' a fat one or dropping something -- the camerawork is pretty shabby, darn the bad luck!

Buddy Rich, hands down. Vinnie Colaiuta is right up there. Agreed, but there are many others... Steve Gadd can make the most complex rythms sound simple... Until you try to figure out what he played, and how to play them. Bill Bruford, master of odd times. Carl Palmer - what can you say, other than "More Cowbell!" Terry Bozzio. Neal Peart. I'm also a fan of Jerry Marotta and Manu Katché. And of course, John Bonham and Keith Moon. And Chester Thompson & Phil Collins. Wow, the longer I take, the more names get added to the list!

Your post on 43 is awesome. Peart did (does?) a Buddy Rich tribute thing putting various drummers together. Obviously using their own style - but in a tribute to buddy. His latest drum solo for this tour has this style of drumming at the end. Here’s an old clip of Neil playing some jazz:

Stewart CopelandHow could I have forgotten?!?! Another name I left off was Tim "Herb" Alexander. I'm sure that I've forgotten many others as well.

Cheap Trick's gonna be in Peoria the night before the 4th of July.
I've seen him four or five times through the years.

Your list brings back memories. One that I'd like to add was the drummer for The Tonight Show, Staring Johnny Carson. I can't seem to recall his name. He had these over-sized mutton chops. - Ed Shaunacy! sp?
