Former Michigan Senator Donald Riegle has sent a letter to the head of the Democratic National Committee and its rules committee calling Michigan's Jan. 15 primary a sham.
Riegle says Michigan voters would be further disenfranchised if the election results were used to allocate the delegates.

How many Democrats crossed over in Florida and Michigan to vote in the Republican primaries “knowing” that there was no Democrat Presidental primary “that would count” in those states?

If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
Mmmm, mmmmm, popcorn! Thanks, westlander!
So? What are they going to do about it? Vote Republican? Ba, ha, ha, ha . . .
The crossover voters are precisely why a revote will not take place in Michigan. Every clerk in the state has said pretty much the same thing—they don’t have the time or the money to sift through all of the voter rolls and figure out who would be eligible to vote in a “do-over.”
If Dean has any sense of history (including the future), he will do precisely what the DNC said it would do when MI’s and FL’s state parties indicated they were “moving up” their primaries in violation of the DNC timetable: Refuse to seat any delegates from those two states.
Period.
No do-overs, nothing.
I feel a bit bad for the voters in those states, but their state parties basically chose to defy the national party.
If the national party “forgives” the defiance THIS time, then, like a 4-year-old child who’s warned of a spanking but continues misbehaving, in the future there will be NO shortage of state and local party organizations that choose to disobey DNC rules and then expect a “do-over” later.
“Refuse to seat any delegates from those two states.”
Good thought but it really isn’t up to Dean once the convention starts. Robert’s Rules provide for all sorts of scenarios....the delegates could be seated according to a challenge from the floor or -my best bet- a majority of the delegates (Hillary’s SuperDelegates FBI files play a part!) vote to recognize the MIFL delegates.
Robert’s Rules also give the floor the ability to apportion the delegates as they see fit! The convention...once seated...is KING!
...and that was one big reason it was done in the first place, look under “having cake, eating it too, twice”. :’)

Yup, I have some liberal friends in this state that either sat out because their vote wouldn’t count, and a few who voted for Ron Paul or McCain to push out Romney, who won.
