Remember, the awful flicks like 'Bloodmonkey' of today are tomorrow's MST3Ks.

Networks are already putting their fall schedules out.

New Amsterdam is gone.
Moonlight goes dim.
Bionic Woman is also gone.

Eli Stone is back, probably mid-season.

Life on Mars is a new addition. It is about a policeman mentally transported back to the 70s. It is the Americanized version of the British drama of the same name, and its successor, Ashes to Ashes.

The Mentalist is a new addition, which is sort of similar to this genre.

Heroes is scheduled to return.
Sarah Connor Chronicles is also returning (fall only).

Supernatural gets another season.
The Reaper also had a last-minute reprieve and is supposed to be back mid-season.

Jericho is being shopped to some of the cable channels. SciFi showed some interest, but no commitment (last I read). They were thinking about something like the DirectTV/NBC deal for Friday Night Lights, where the satellite co pays part of the production and gets ‘first broadcast’ rights.

SciFi has 2 news series coming. One is Caprica, which is some 50 years before the Cylon war.

Well Sci-Fi is going to show called Revolution. Basically the American Revolution on a different planet.. That is something I’m looking for forward too.

Looked to me from 2 weeks ago that BSG is heading in a more strongly religious direction. From that ‘Last Supper’ picture they’ve been featuring that is inevitable, for good or bad.

Given that the only SciFi action at this time of year is on Friday nights, don't you think it would more appropriate to wait until Friday, May 30 to start this thread?

PS: Does Burn Notice count as SciFi?

Sarah Connor Chronicles is also returning (fall only).

What does that mean, "fall only"?

Fox would be insane to allow the SCC franchise to lapse.

I see this happening.. The Colonials are going to abandon their old beliefs i.e. many gods for single god. The cylons will no longer have the power to come back to life... The final 5 will be exposed and I think that Tigh is the first one that is going to be exposed first. The Earth they will find will be around 10,000 B.C.

Dr Who: I HATE DONNA!!! WILL THOSE SPACE SPUDS SHOOT HER!!!!

I didn't like Donna at first- she seemed like kind of a pathetic figure, pining for something she couldn't have instead of just living her life.

But after a few episodes, she's grown on me- now my impression is of a strong, smart woman who knew what she wanted and made it happen through patience and determination. She's definitely the first in the new series to be mature enough to confound The Doctor.

Yeah, but my point is that when it comes time to comment on, for example, an episode of BSG, it's really difficult to scroll back through looking for a thread which is a week old.

By contrast, if you posted this on a Friday evening, at about 8PM, then you would be a lot more likely to get some running commentary from folks.

Dittoes for Monday nights, if, for example, Heroes & Sarah Connor Chronicles are the big draws.

I find Donna refreshing after the smitten unrequitted love angles from the previous two companions. She’s there to be “fun”, and I think her character works more often than not. This last Agatha Christie episode was a great ride!

And they actually went through with the Americanization of Life on Mars? Ouch. I have a bad feeling about this. The british version was AWESOME, and I heartily recommend it, especially if you have a love of cliche cop shows which it cleverly parodies. The sci-fi angle is just the cherry on the top.

Remember this is the same network that canceled Firefly...

Yeah but they just won the ratings race for the entire year [over NBC, CBS, ABC, etc] because they had new episodes of Sarah Connor in the can while all the other networks were honoring the writers' strike.

Fox wins TV season crown
http://www.variety.com/VR1117986172.html

...Though Fox had its share of first-year bombs, it ended the season with the two top-rated new programs in lie-detector reality show "Moment of Truth" and sci-fi drama "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"...

To diss the show which brought them the trophy would be insane.

PS: We also have to face the hard truth of the matter, which is that there just might not be all that large of an audience for Joss's style - he's targetting people who are way, way, way out at the far right end of the bell curve, and once you get too far away from the big hump in the middle of the bell curve, the absolute numbers fall off rather drastically:

Serenity (2005)
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=serenity.htm

Production Budget: $39 million

TOTAL LIFETIME GROSSES
Domestic: $25,514,517 65.6%
+ Foreign: $13,354,947 34.4%
= Worldwide: $38,869,464

Any "profit" which Serenity might be making is coming from DVD sales and HBO/Showtime reruns.

PPS: Actually, what I just said about Joss & the bell curve might be true for Sarah Connor as well - SCC had some of the best writing I've ever seen in SciFi, and it might be moving the demographics too far out to the right.

What does that mean, "fall only"?

That means for the fall, Chronicles is shown in a certain time slot. For the spring, however, Chronicles is not shown at all.

Has it been renewed for a second season in 2009?

The Earth they will find will be around 10,000 B.C.

The original BSG had a strong early Egyptian influence in their symbols, etc. The implication was that the early Egyptians were participants or descendents of the 13th Colony. However, when the BSG group did reach Earth, it was modern day America where they made contact.
