I recommend the highly rated 2008 Mercury Sable for any road-trip. It has a new 3.5L V-6 engine, winner of Ward's 10 Best Engines award, with a standard six-speed automatic transmission. And inside it has voice-control of the SYNC communications and entertainment system. Rated the safest full-size sedan in America, Sable also has six standard airbags and all-wheel drive. Plus the trunk is huge with room for 6 golf bags.
Very nice. Will the tranny, engine and all remaining accessories function beyond 100K?
Note that the SYNC system isn’t that great at interfacing with iPods (the de facto standard music player) as there have been several consumer complaints AND it’s “Powered By Microsoft.”
Considering how well the *last* Microsoft-powered in car system worked (iDrive v1.0)... or, rather, DIDN’T work, do you REALLY want to have Microsoft in your car?
