Most people, myself included, know that McCain is weak on illegal immigration and a lot of other issues. That’s not the point.

Weak is an understatement. Supporting amnesty for illegals is a dangerous policy that will make it easier for terrorists to enter this country by posing as illegals. National security and McCain's policy that threatens our security is precisely the point. Failing to enforce our laws as he would be required to do as President will only exacerbate the chaos we have for not enforcing our immigration laws in the first place. A nation without laws will cease to exist.

The point is that despite all of McCain’s weaknesses he’s still a much stronger candidate than what the Dems have.

What you euphemistically call "weaknesses" are in reality socialist positions. You can spin it anyway you want but McCain has consistently chosen to associate himself over the years with socialist Democrats to support socialist causes.

I’ll repeat: many elections come down to choosing the least worst candidate, not the best. McCain is the least worst.

When the lesser of two evils becomes the ordinary choice, it becomes a slippery slope and the result is always the greater evil. You never see the socialist Democrats in a predicament of choosing between two conservative candidates because they are never willing to sacrifice their beliefs yet conservatives are expected to cede their principles. Doing so only makes matters worse as we have seen with the GOP strategy over the years. I will never submit to that self defeating strategy.

And that might mean with McCain as president, we’re far less likely to see another twin towers or similar catastrophe.

That would only be true if McCain would stop insisting on amnesty for illegals thereby making it easier for terrorists to destroy us from within our own borders.

Your continual attempt to downplay McCain's insistence of placating socialists by rationalizing some how socialism can be stopped by accepting a little more socialism with each succeeding election has the opposite effect. It empowers socialists with the result being increasingly socialist candidates like McCain. It's a merry go round that never stops with the line of reasoning you and unfortunately many others have conned themselves into believing. The only way to get off the ride is by standing firm on conservative principles.

Whether you vote for McCain or don’t vote, you’ll have made a choice. McCain is not nearly the socialist you think he is, so stop the McCain-is-a-socialist nonsense. He’s actually more conservative than Nixon. He’s wrong on some major issues, but to call him a socialist (like many others on this forum) makes a mockery of the word socialist. In your definition apparently a socialist is anyone who doesn’t agree you with you. And I’m sure you’ll be hsppy with a real socialist, Obama, as president.
