I sympathize. I used to love the taste of Coca-Cola, till some time in the early 1990s I noticed it always tasted like "Santa coke"-the coke cans sold around Christmas time had Santas on them, and the contents were relatively bitter or harsh in flavor. (We hypothesized that that's because they put less sugar in it then so people could mix it with alcohol. )I now realized that's because they had changed from sugar to high fructose corn syrup, but at the time all I knew is coke now "sucked". So I quit drinking it and switched to Sprite, and now I rarely drink sodas at all.

Apparently, you can get can sugar (instead of HFCS) Coke around Passover, but you have to know where to look. Also, the versions overseas still have real sugar. I like the Jones Cola- only cane sugar!! The flavor difference is huge.

I know what you mean about the difference between HFCS and real sugar. Last time I went to NYC, my friends and I would stop in the little hispanic-run convenience stores to get Coke bottled in Mexico, cause it was made with real sugar and still came in glass bottles, and it was SO much better than the kind we were used to. I also like the Jones sodas, especially their cream soda... mmmm...

I will have to see what British Coca-Cola contains we do not tend to use much corn syrup here so maybe we still have the sugar variety.
