‘As an IT consultant, I love those $400 PCs.”

At $400 you get the performance that most business users need. Its not the $400 PC that keeps you coming back it the lack of standards and unsophisticated users.

$400 PCs are great if thats what you need. Why spend $2000 today unless you have to.

At $400, you get:

The slowest, least reliable hard drives.
The worst designed cases, which do not have enough ventilation.
The cheapest components, many of which don’t outlast the warranty (usually 90 days to 1 year) by more than a few weeks.
The most garbage on the hard drive that must be removed prior to being placed in service.
Really bad drivers.
Slow video performance.
Missing quality control.

I’m very familiar with the mass market $400 PC. Like I said, I love them, they make me LOTS of money.

The low end Mac is $599. It compares favorably with the low end PCs that are in its price range. And it doesn’t come with the bloatware that haunts cheap Windows machines.
