Clinton navigates perfect storm of naysayers Gene Lyons Its long been my opinion that if Hillary Clinton could be appointed president, nobody could do the job better. In a parliamentary system, shed stand an excellent chance of becoming prime minister, since political parties tend to select leaders more on the basis of competence than the dubious skills of a game show host. Like Al Gore, Clinton is seen by friends as warm, funny and empathetic. She does better in small groups and town hall-type events than in large arenas. Also like Gore, shes motivated more by duty than most politicians. Unfriendly eyes see her determination as entitlement. Misogyny runs deeper in American culture than many admit; brainy women are seen as unnatural. The camera doesnt love her the way it loves Sen. Barack Obama. Too, her candidacy has labored under the manifest disadvantage of the Beltway medias unreasoning hatred of her husband, the virulence of which continues to amaze. In Arkansas, some think its rooted in resentment that some smooth-talking, white-trash hayseed from the American outback could become president. In Washington, its whispered that her unresponsiveness to certain socially prominent hostesses made them loathe her.

The author actually is describing W. The last sentence applies to all of them (Gore: son of a senator, W: son of a president, HRC: wife of a president).
Is there any way that one can vote in this election cycle without being labeled a bigot of some sort???
Gene Lyons has been brown-nosing the Clintons for so long it’s second nature to him.
Only if the brainy woman is a DemocRat.
Even the execrable Don Imus called Gene Sue Lyons the “perfect Clinton buttboy”.
Is this article the perfect barf alert?
Right, all of the crimes charged against the clintons are false, right Gene ol’ boy? I wonder what you have to say now that Camille Paglia has raised the issue of Vince Foster’s death being suspicious? Is she part of the “vast right wing conspiracy too?”
I fear Hillary less as president than as Supreme Court Justice, which is probably what she’s now bargaining for. There are more checks and balances on a President than on a Justice.
