American psychologists have unearthed a marital rating scale used by marriage counsellors in 1939 to assess the performance of wives and the categories make interesting reading for modern couples brought up to believe in the equality of the sexes.
Women are awarded marks if they dress for breakfast, ask their husbands opinions on important decisions and let their partners sleep late on Sundays and holidays.....

There was a time when only "bad" girls wore nail polish. Also it was considered to be something to cover up dirt under the nails. Wonder what they'd think of the black nail polish now?

There has got to be some make-up bonus points if she looked like Greta Garbo, Paulette Goddard, Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Havilland, Carole Lombard or the money other screen goddesses of the day.

Maybe, but....viva la difference!
I’m so glad my husband is not like me. That way I can be spoiled and selfish! hehehe

I like how the wife is expected to go to religious services with the kids while the husband sleeps in late.

Anybody seen more sets? Links at posts 38 and 54.
Glancing over the lists for both spouses. The wives only get 10 points for sex, but it is a 20 point question on the husbands' list. I guess all those women in 1939 were pretty demanding in bed.

Women are the same way according to what Im reading and hearing (and believe)- they want a man who treats them well and loves having great sex with them.Yes, but often they don't want to give it back. It's about what they want and when they want it, not what HE wants when he wants it.
I see this as the fruits of the self-centeredness of the modern feminist mindset. In their efforts for 'equality' it's overshot the target and become something very unequal for husbands.

I agree-— pendelums have swung from one extreme to another-— but that's how you find the middle ground.

She did all that during the day because the husband supported the family and she didn’t have to work.

Too funny. George W. Crane, Ph.D., M.D., had some issues, didn’t he? I love the extreme specificity of his lists.
