Okay, it’s cat decision time again. Here’s the facts:
1. Abby still doesn’t seem to be any better.
2. She’s pooping in her box, but not peeing. She’s either peeing on the floor in front of the piano...or in her bed.
3. It’s been six months since the first leg break.
4. I can’t spend another $300 on x-rays and blood work.
5. We leave for the beach on Saturday, so we either have to find someone who will care for her in our house (and give her meds and change her bed) or we have to board her at the vets.
Mrs. and I have talked. She’s 12, she’s not getting better and we don’t know that she wants to. Of course she can’t tell us. But it’s been three weeks since we took her in last time.
Mrs. talked to thevet who hasn’t seen her. She offered to photocopy articles on cat pee behavior. I’ve already googled all of those. Ms. Vet thinks it’s because she doesn’t want to walk to the box. The box is closer to her than under the piano where she goes to hide and pee.
I think it’s time to let her go. Mrs. seems to agree. Luke is gone this week and won’t be home before we all come back from the beach. Seems to me it’s the thing to do.
Thoughts?
I think you should do what you think is right. I wouldn’t fault you for deciding enough has been enough.
I gotta say... if she’s not getting better, then you’re really getting to the point where the decision has to be made. Maybe it’s better to let her go before she gets to the point where she’s just in obvious constant pain.
