Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Spam for breakfast? Bleah.
FWIW, I've been sayin' that fer years. I would have signed the papers 2 weeks before his 18th birthday.
But they required both signatures.
DOH!!!
Glad the XD40 is allright...
oh sure... backtrackin’ now... ;o)
I fought for the right to have him fail 9th grade.
I think this will kick in the next time he needs gas. I’ll ask him “are you werking today?” If not, he can ride with us...if we go anywhere.
Yep...you done good.
I figured it would be the next time he wanted dinner...
Well, I told him he could eat and sleep at home. But undoubtedly, he’ll come to me some time in the next couple of days and say “can we order a pizza?”
“I don’t know, ~can~ you?”
Well, good to hear from ya anyway...I was mostly just joking about calling the police.
Well...mostly.
;-)
I gotta better one...
“yer still here?”...
Oh my goodness, I had the worst shift last night.
I worked an eight hour shift and I don’t do that very often. I knew it was gonna be bad when I came on and was following a brand new nurse that doesn’t have her act together yet. She tries but when I came on, she had half her shift tasks not done yet and “had to go pick up her kids and go to a doctor’s appointment”. Besides, I don’t doubt she did the best she could...and it was my time to take over which generally includes picking up the slack.
So that’s what I did and about halfway through the shift I hadn’t even started my own tasks...I found out another brand new nurse was going to be following me that “wouldn’t be able to pick up my slack if I left anything undone.”
I did not stop running the entire shift. I kicked it into overdrive and managed to finish EVERYTHING but didn’t get home till almost 1am (I normally get off at 11pm).
I’d forgotten to take my bp meds with me (I normally take them at 9am and 9pm) and by the time I got home, it was 140/104. I was literally exhausted.
I’m not working any more 8 hour shifts...I don’t have to, I’m not gonna. Even the worst shifts can be tolerated for a short time. I’m just not physically able to handle longer. Maybe if they ever figure out what is wrong with me and fix it, I’ll be able to some day...but not now.
Even if we’d just had a nurse aide, it would’ve been better...I spent precious time running around putting people on bedpans and getting them a “snack”.
Never thought I’d say this about an episode of LOST, but they actually revealed quite a lot! Course, half the revelation was for the characters and was stuff we’ve known right along, but even so...
So there’s no episode next week, right? Just the two-hour show in two weeks? Seems like this season went by awfully fast.
Well, glad you got through it, but if you forget your medicine again, aren’t you in a place where you could get some? :~)
Seriously, sound like you did good. Hard job.
Good morning everyone. We did love the LOST last night. Worth staying up for.
I don't think I'd want you bringing those two things at the same time, personally. ;~)
I’m a little disturbed that “snack” is in quotations. Makes ya wonder, don’t it?
Yeah...and for working that eight hour shift yesterday when they had such a need, I got five bucks more an hour.
So there’s that.
See you all later...got lots to do today.
Heh heh heh....
What I meant was...the patient calls you in the room and says “Can I have a snack?”
What kind of snack?
“Well, let me think...what am I in the mood for? I wonder...can I have this? Or what about that? What do you think, Wilber?”
What kind of diet are they on?
Diabetic? Mechanical soft? Full liquid, clear liquid?
Really, there’s a lot involved with getting a patient a snack. The wrong thing can cause problems. So a “snack” is really stressful sometimes! Of course, it probably has something to do with having blood vital signs you’re behind on in the next room and the bed alert going off in another because one patient is confusing and insists on “going on onto the back porch for a spell” even with a broken hip.
Heh heh..I’m actually chuckling. It really isn’t a bad job. Just hard sometimes.
