I'm trying to find the title and author of a fictional book I read 13 years ago. The book was written from a Soviet Tank Commander's point of view during a Soviet Invasion of west Germany. If anyone can help me out, I wouldgreatly appreciate it.

TOPICS: Books/Literature
KEYWORDS: germany; sovietunion; tankcommander

“World War III” was a novel written about 20 years ago — maybe more — by a UK general who was high up in NATO. Very realistic, almost frightening. One of the several scenarios he kept coming back to was that of the adventures of a Motor Rifle platoon leader driving through Fulda at high speed. There were others.

Bingo! Beat me, and with the correct title, too! Was there a sequel by the general?

I read the book. My favorite theory in the book is that it took the Soviets 4 days to reach the Atlantic. Three days to fight their way across West Germany, and one day to drive at highway speeds across France.

and one day to drive at highway speeds across France.

And this in the days before drive through restaurants.

Sean:

I think the book you are looking for is entitled: RED ARMY by RALPH PETERS. He also wrote THE WAR IN 2020.

Two titles for you, off my bookshelf.

The 2,548 Best Things Anybody Ever Said (many amusingly illustrated) — Robert Byrne

America’s Popular Sayings — Gregory Titelman

Look at your local bookshop or you can buy online at Amazon.com

Hope that helps.

THANK you I have been asking around off line and pondering if such a book existed for almost a year now.

I get a kick out of those sayings and want to learn the correct way they go and the reason they came about.

Half of one dozen or the other

"Six dozen of one or half of the other."

There. Fixed it.
