I’m using the honor system. So far so good. We are keeping a close eye. I may look into something like that soon too.

That is awful they are allowing kids to watch that at school.

Thank you, Tajgirvan.

I think the recipe sounds very good. I hope your Mom, sister and niece will enjoy it. Hoping they invite you over for dinner! * smile *

Hope you had a good day!

Good evening, Kitty Mittens.

I’m sure they way Marissa found the yourtube video was older kids in the cafeteria after school. I have no idea how she knows about My Space.

Anytime I see her on something that is the least questionable, I tell her it is not appropriate. So far, that has been good enough.

Like you, I seen some pretty wicked pictures on the Internet. I think there is a setting on Internet Explorer. I will check it out because there may be times she gets online when I am not sitting beside her. BUT .... she know what is not appropriate for her. I’m hoping that I’ve instilled some good judgement.

Hope you had a lovely Wednesday!

So far, the honor system is working here but I’m worried about when she might stumble on something that looks interesting.

I’ve warned her about talking to anyone on the computer. She does not know about Instant Messaging yet.

She keeps asking about email and I keep telling her NO!

I don’t think the school is allowing it but they are not monitoring what the kids are doing. That upsets me.

Good Morning Amy
I know what you mean. The honor system is good... for now. There is an email for kids. Another Freeper showed me. It's www.kidmail.net. I haven't set it up yet. I figure the longer time before mail starts the better. ;)

I'm too strict. We won't ever allow chat. She can talk on the phone. ;)

I thought school computer's blocked stuff like my space. I guess they can't block that because it's so many different addresses. I'm sure it's difficult for them to see everything they are on. Plus, kid's can be so sneaky too. ;) You taught Missy well. :) She knew to tell you about it.

Moody Artwork
Be tenderhearted, be courteous. —1 Peter 3:8

British and American computer scientists have created artwork that changes according to how the viewer feels. The computer program analyzes the position and shape of the mouth, the angle of the brows, the openness of the eyes, and five other facial features to determine the viewer’s emotional state. The artwork then alters, based on the viewer’s mood. If joy is seen on the face, the artwork will show up in bright colors. If there’s a scowl, the image will become dark and somber.

Our moods can also affect the people around us—our family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. Our life touches people, whether for good or bad. Each person is responsible for his or her own reaction to us, of course. Yet the way we behave makes a difference in others’ lives.

The apostle Peter encouraged us to have compassion for others, to love, to be tenderhearted and courteous, and not to return evil for evil but rather blessing (1 Peter 3:8-9). Following his instructions may be difficult for us on a day when we feel cranky. By depending on the Holy Spirit, we can have a positive impact on everyone we meet—even if all we do is smile or listen.

Let’s paint our world in bright colors today.

My life will touch a dozen lives
Before this day is done,
Leave countless marks for good or ill
Before the setting sun. —Anon.

A heart touched by grace brings joy to the face.
Bible in One Year: 2 Samuel 4–6; Proverbs 14:1-11

I’ve *cough* once in awhile dropped some of my *cough* poems in Amy’s threads.
Somehow, she forgives me.

Yes, there are content settings. I can't really direct you to them, but JustJunior would surely be able to locate them and secure Marissa's computer so she can't accidently come upon sites she should not see.

I am sure glad I am not raising kids in this day and age. It was difficult enough during the 70's and 80's, but at least we didn't have to deal with computers, myspace sites, text messaging and all that. Keeping tabs on kids just seems so much more difficult now. Cell phones are nice for keeping in contact though.

“Together”

East or west or north or south,
No difference at all.
If you’re here, I am content,
Winter, spring, summer, fall.
We journey on together,
Yes, side by side we go.
For me there is no other,
But that, I know, you know.
No burdens do I carry,
When you are here with me.
Your hand in mine, I’m happy,
And rich as I can be.
Your presence is a blessing,
For which thanks I do give.
I’ll pray that you’re beside me,
As long as I may live.
