The fact this is happening in both hemispheres could be a sign it is tied in with global warming, Field said. We are trying to piece this all together.
Or maybe it doesn’t have any thing do with “global warming”.
Maybe there are more squid around as part of a natural cycle that we don’t yet understand.
Well, if these squid eat walrus, Al had better stay out of the water. :-)
While horse riding on an Oregon beach we spotted the torpedo shaped body of one of these squid. The body was about three feet long but there were no arms. There was however, a trail in the sand made by the legs as they crawled away. They made it about 150 feet. We found four of them like that that day. Interesting, eerie and funny all at the same time.
Interesting article till the global warming jackass raised its evil saliva dripping head from the sea.
Thanks, it looks like it was true.
That was my thought also when I read the article. The whack jobs seem to never miss a chance to promote the tripe.
Yet Al the Gorical refuses to answer questions about the increase in prices on food staples that is causing more starvation for third world countries!
It could be a chain reaction, Gilly said. Taking out one salmon could disturb a million salmon.
And this from a biology professor. Very scientific, not alarmist at all.
Further, global warming is mentioned a couple times in the article, but the Earth wasn’t warming during the period involved, according to the latest stats. Those pesky facts...
LOL! He must go after dogfish, he shouldn’t be afraid of squid.
When fishing down in the Sea of Cortez in Baja we have caught many of these squid. We use some for bait but have eaten them as well. The largest ones we caught were about four feet but usually they were smaller. They taste fine but maybe the larger ones are not as good. We fried some up and it tasted great. We stayed at one place near a panga fleet that specifically targeted the Rojo Diablo. One of the local families picnicked near us and whipped up a batch of calamari ceviche that she proceeded to feed us. It was also very good.
I love calamari and order it when we’re at a restaurant with decent seafood.
Years ago (50’s) squid were plentiful off So CA. Fishing boats would have them in their bait tanks when we’d go out for yellowtail, excellent bait.
I once was at a buffet dinner in Abu Dhabi where some roughneck referred to calamari as “fried foreskin”. Needless to say that he became very unpopular that evening. I myself couln’t stop laughing for a week.
Thanks to jazusamo49 for the ping.
Say WA? Evergreen State ping
FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this ping list.
Ping sionnsar if you see a Washington state related thread.
When my kid was 5 or 6 the only way I could get him to eat calimari was to tell him they were Italian onion rings. He’d eat a few then say, “these onion rings taste like fish!”, then eat a few more, repeat.
Ship em to Little Rhody.
We love calamari.
(Come to think of it, probably here illegally, too.)
