You'd do better to deflate your Adam Smith blow-up doll and zip up. Actually, do us all a favor and do those things in reverse order. Relax and realize the lesson of the NFL draft, and other leagues (which was the discussion) is that we stray away from pure capitalism for what? In an artificial world of entertainment. You wanna make steel efficiently? Use some of that there capitalism. Want to bring a good quality sport to amuse a wide variety of people? Then you make the league the focus, and make damn sure you don't grow monster teams.
But you have the sound of one of those guys smarter than a century of pro sports, so whatever.
In Sept. 2007 Forbes values the average NFL franchise at over $900 million dollars!!!!
The business is awash in cash and it’s not like baseball where there are 5 teams blowing out the payroll curve.
If I wasnt to be "amused," I'll go to a comedy club, or theater, or maybe a pro wrestling card, not a legitimate professional sporting event, thank you.
The number one value of sports should be competition, not comedy or amusement (although, granted, there is occasionally spontaneous comedy associated with legit sports, which I have no problem with).
Well, for all its "making sure," the NFL still had to see the Patriots go 18-0 and lose in the last seconds of the Super Bowl. Maybe they breathed a collective sigh of relief. But I'd still call last year's Pats a "monster" team.
