Seahawks release Shaun Alexander

Posted on 04/23/2008 6:00:46 AM PDT by djf

Being reported on local news. After 8 years. This guy has always been and will continue to be one of the classiest guys around, and a true example of all those rubrics about how professional sports is supposed to build character.

Shaun! Thanks for the memories! And the bumps and bruises... and the YARDS!!

We salute you!

(just don't come back to Seattle and put 220 yards on the books...!!!)

Hawks didn’t play him right the last couple years. They needed another RB in the backfield to distract the defense.

I watched it a million times, they’d either line up with no RB and 3 or four receivers, or they’d put him in the backfield and try to make the defense guess “Well, there, who do ya thinks gonna get the ball???...”

He definitely has a couple very, very productive seasons left.
Given the right conditions. No doubt there’ll be a bidding war of sorts.

If the price is right (a big IF) he’d be a nice fit for Philadelphia. Seattle & Philly play the same offense. I’d like to see Westbrook flanked out more or in motion. Alexander in the backfield would give the opposing defense a real dilema. Course it won’t happen.

A former Crimson Tide player. I remember him fondly. Truly a class act.

Aside from Duane Thomas, Washington has been a great place for experienced RB's to revitalize their careers.

Who gets the pick? He’s like a total free agent now, right?
