I've always felt that the original Monroe pictures were sort of sad. She was clearly a little over the hill by that point. They smacked of desperation by a woman who knew that her best days were behind her.

Lohan recreated those pictures at age 22 and managed to look not quite as good, but every bit as desperate and aware that her best days were behind her. Very sad.
