I'm astounded by the irony.
A Leftist pamphlet full of lies defending the Rosenbergs is handed to a young loser, triggering a chain of events leading to the assassination of the man that would subsequently become the martyred icon of the Left.
(Even Wikipedia now begrudgingly admits that the Rosenbergs were indeed guilty, thanks to the Verona Cables).

It's "Venona". The guilt of the Rosenbergs and Alger Hiss was pretty firmly nailed down without the Venona decrypts. Venona just removes any shred of doubt. Since the guilt of the Rosenbergs (as defined by statute) has been proven beyond any doubt what is left for their defenders? That bigger fish got away? That they were morally and intellectually superior human beings and therefore not bound by the laws of a government established by slave-holding White males? (This is known in law as the Kathleen Soliah defense.)
