LEXINGTON, Ky. A Lexington eighth-grader has been charged with wanton endangerment after allegedly putting crumbled peanut butter cookies in the lunchbox of another student with a severe allergy to peanuts.
The allergic student, also an eighth-grader, did not eat the cookies and did not suffer a reaction.
Fayette County schools spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall says the incident occurred Thursday on the Morton Middle School running track, where students had gone to eat lunch and enjoy the warm weather.
She says it was well known the other student suffered from severe peanut allergies. She says there was no known history of problems between the two 13-year-old students.
Deffendall says that after an investigation, the student was arrested on a felony wanton endangerment charge and has been removed from the school.
The student will face charges in the juvenile criminal justice system.
wanton endangerment? It looks to me like attempted murder!
They arrest kids for peanuts, but force the same kids to watch homoindoctrination videos.
If there are peanuts in those videos, I don't want to know.
The allergy must be that severe if the kid didn’t have a reaction.
Thank God the govt. forced the schools to ‘accomodate’ students with life-threatening illnesses.
I am sure his ‘quality of life’ will be great when he is dead.
And the 400 other CHILDREN who cannot have a simple peanut-butter sandwich will never do anything as stupid as bring a peanut to school because they are, like, so intellegent about death, and like you know, everything.

Not a great analogy to be honest with you. The kid should seriously be up on attempted murder charges. Have you ever seen a kid with peanut alergy? It is not pretty. Many have died from it. This kid was a brat who now will be a brat in juvie.

Correct. It was attempted murder. The 8th grader should get 20 years in jail to think it over.

I saw nothing in the article that states the kid was a brat. Maybe the kid with the allergies should be in some special needs school if peanut-anything is so bad for him?
12-13yo’s make stupid mistakes. Charging him with a felony seems pretty insane.
