Not long ago we reported that Monster Cable had issued a cease and desist letter to Blue Jeans Cable about their Tartan cables. Little did the lawyer drones over at Monster know that Kurt Denke, the president of Blue Jeans was, in a former life, a lawyer by trade. Oops! Someone pushed around the wrong "small" company! While we are no legal experts, we recognize humor when we see it. And this is funny. With Blue Jeans Cable's permission, we've included their full response to Monster's letter below. Kurt wants to keep this entire process completely open to the public and we're more than happy to oblige. Enjoy

Ping; thought you’d find this interesting, son.
This fits the general contours of “going medieval on their asses.”
LOL
Well, I don’t know about the lawyer angle, but I do like the lawyer-lawyers-to-death-with-lawyering thing. I do agree with the other posters on here that Monster Cable is outrageously overpriced. I bought a 25-ft HDMI 1.3 cable from MonoPrice.com for about $20-25. The same cable from Monster is about $300.
You appear to be a refugee from Democratic Underground. Aside from a basic economics class, you need some work in anger management.
You’re really pathetic. Anyone who reads our conversation with a level head can see you’ve acted like a common troll.
You said if people are willing to pay 150 for a 5 dollar cable thats what they’re worth.
I said so if someone is willing to pay 50 dollars for a bottle than thats what it’s “worth” (even though it’s not). You agreed then asked me what’s my point. I told you that the water isn’t “worth” 50 dollars, nor is the cable in question worth 150, the monster cable in question is no better than a 5-10 dollar cable.
You then arrogantly claim that I’m an economic buffoon because I can’t “see” your brilliance. No kidding, monster has suckered many people with their snake oil and you — applaud. I don’t. As I mentioned before many people go to big box stores and are suckered because the ONLY option is 100-150 monster cables. Because I don’t say yeah dude if they can get 150 for their crap more power to em’ like you I don’t understand economics???? That’s quite an extrapolation of logic.
You then inaccurately accused me of buying monster cables, showing that you’re just hungry for a fight and didn’t even read what I said.
You’re initial statement on this thread was arrogant and condescending as well as being flat out stupid, NOTHING makes a monster cable “worth” 150 dollars even if someone is will to pay 10 grand for it.
If you would like to argue in the abstract than the monster cable is worth millions, if someone will pay for it.
In the REAL WORLD, the quality of the product is no better than the 5-10 dollar alternative from blue jean or monoprice. As I said before, my comment was to INFORM and help YOU and others who may be buying cables for their new hi-def TV’s and don’t know about this common swindle. You’re a$$hole comment about that if people pay it that makes it worth it was just stupid. So, you’re the only one who knows that if they can sell it for that price it’s not illegal, you’re such an economic genius. The rest of us are consumers who don’t want to get ripped off.
Take your arrogant and condescending attitude and deconstructionist way of debating over to DU, that’s the way they play. You accuse ME of coming from DU?, on what basis???. Just the way you accused me of buying 150 dollar monster cables, out of thin air, the thin air from your tiny, little mind. You just make up lies and then argue the merits of them. You’re twisted.
Yes. Hard for some people to grasp, but it's true. The 150 number is actually the accurate number, because it is what someone willingly pays. Your '5' came out of nowhere and is imaginary. I guess you either get it or you don't.
ROFLMAO!!

You’re WRONG again, totally and unequivocally, I know what the cables cost, you OBVIOUSLY don’t.
Go to monoprice or blue jeans web sites and you will see as I said 5-10 dollar cables, (you get a discount for multiple cables) that are the equivalent or superior to cables that monster charges 100-150 for.
Another out and out LIE by you, accusing me of making up the figure.
You are a total jack-a$$, why don’t you quit while you’re 100 miles behind.
Click on the link you arrogant jack-a$$.
5 dollar 6 foot hdmi cables from monoprice.
You can find similar monster hdmi cables for 20 times more, you can find “speed rated” hdmi cables (their latest marketing sham) for 30 times more.
Stop talking out of your dumb pie hole about a subject you know nothing about and accusing others of LYING, some conservative you are.
Guitar came in the mail today.
Yes that was it. Great read.
