They're always the first; and "jabs" is a kind word. These people who accuse us of being uncaring and intolerant are the most personally vicious people I know.

Boy, do I hear you on that score. I am very, very seldom left speechless, but that little tactic generally leaves me opening and closing my mouth, trying to figure out how the heck to respond.

I keep coaching myself to the have the presence of mind to just laugh merrily and make some smart remark, but it really unsettles me, each and every time.
