I actually enjoyed Sarah Jane a whole lot. The opening story was like 150% better than any Torchwood story has ever been.
I think it is because being aimed at kids and not at some “watershed” ethos, they had to actually tell a good story (which seemed like a version of Larry Cohen’s The Stuff, only more sinister). The monsters were pretty good too.
There were times when the acting/direction seemed a little off, a little hammed up and maybe it went on about 10 minutes too long but I just remembered it was aimed at children and for the most part was a pretty cracking story.
In some ways it reminded me more of Classic Who.
BSG was great. Haven’t watched Torchwood yet. I can’t wait for this season of Torchwood to finally be over. Why couldn’t they just kill everyone off and start over with Tosh?
Now that would be a good show. As for BSG, I like Number 6 with her natural hair rather than the blond wig imho...
If Sarah Jane is more like classic Doctor Who, I can see my friends and I staying in on friday nights in the future... I’m trying to look it up online right now. It has to be pretty awesome if it’s better than anything from Torchwood (specifically Countrycide, Sleeper, and Reset; most of the rest aren’t too hard to beat).
This week’s Torchwood was pretty neat IMO, and I’m psyched for the finale. As far as the ‘just kill everyone off’ bit, I’ve heard rumors that some of the actors might be leaving the show, so... who knows? Obviously, the writers can’t kill off Jack for multiple reasons, and Gwen is sort of the main character, but I’m willing to bet that Owen dies in the season finale given how terribly inconvenient the undead thing has to be for the writers.
