Wow.
Four OS reviewed. Zero FUD.

Funny how the XP guy spent a good portion (not to mention the first portion) of his article hacking on Vista.
LOL!
My favs (in order): DOS/Win98, Ubuntu Linux, Win2k/WinXP, WinVista. I am looking forward to my first Mac box, now that it is BSD, hoping that I can get to a bash console... If I can, I imagine it will also beat my preference for WinXP and Vista...
Doubt it will ever beat DOS/Win98 or *nix with me tho...

The bash console is available on every Mac... You'll have access to all the UNIX commands and utilities.

Where are TRS-DOS, MPM, and BeOS? In the dustbin of computer history... along with AmigaOS, MacOS, TOS, and quite a few others. Some justifiably dust and others tragically.

What’s with the picture of Mookie Al Sadr in the Vista screenshot?
Putting a picture of that swine on your screenshot is not a good way to promote your fave OS.
Unless, of course, there’s a bullseye on it.

If ‘U-Bunny’ is what they consider ‘Linux’ - I feel sorry for them.

You can. I forget the details; just used Mac OS X a half hour for a friend a month ago. Search around in the window of apps you can run for "console", as I recall, and you'll find the console emulator, which opens a shell window.

Yeah, Ubuntu was my first foray into Linux and it’s everything I thought it would be. Pretty, different from Windows, and confusing. I never did play a DVD on it and wireless seemed too hard to configure. It’s sad that Ubuntu is the “Windows” of Linux, i.e. best marketed. It’s NOT the best version available.
I’m a big PCLinuxOS fan these days. It found every piece of hardware on four different machines in my house. I’ve tried a variety of Linux, and PCLOS is the only one that just simply works. Dual-booting with my Windows is drop dead simple. Automatic. Easy for a Windows user to migrate to.
I’ve never tried a Mac, nor Vista, but I’d sure like to. I want a DX10 videocard gaming machine in Windows someday.

... hoping that I can get to a bash console... If I can Launch 'Terminal' app in Utilities folder within Applications folder. Alternatively, click on Spotlight icon in upper right of the screen and type 'terminal' to locate terminal.app. Enjoy!

I’m a fedora guy, and use it on a number of work machines and production servers - It does everything I need, and sometimes quite a bit more.

The Vista one is so easy to tear apart it’s almost sad.
To: antiRepublicrat
It looks like it was written by a MS employee. Vista is about as efficient as a dump truck.

If you want more than 3.5G of RAM, you need 64-bit Windows. Linux is great for experienced users but people like my wife would grow to hate it. I can’t use a Mac because I am a heterosexual.
Actually, I really see no reason for a Mac EXCEPT they are great for schools and neophytes because they are relatively virus-free. Linux would be a good choice as well. The computer colleges make their users boot Linux to thin out the non-technical folks.
