but then who is it? i cant find answers from my liberal proffesors here and my democratic parents? I’m making an honest effort to see what i’m missing at the other end of politics. I may not be the smartest person but I’m trying to learn and open to the ideas many of you have provided

First off, thanks for showing back up on the thread. The first sign of a troll is the lack of responses after throwing out a flame-worthy post and seeing how it stokes the fire.

As for learning what makes a person conservative, there’s more than few great posts on your thread here asking you to detail your answers to questions that, hopefully, give you pause as to your core beliefs and rational thought process. By that I mean, they’re trick questions. Not trick in as much as you’ll say the wrong answer and we’ll all snicker. They’re trick questions in that, rationally, you should want to answer them in a way that agrees with conservatism.

Well, let's start with the gun-nut vision you have towards right-wingers.

Compare the Virginia Tech shootings to where the perp was able to reload multiple times and kill over 30 people because no one was armed to stop him.

Compare that to the Luby's shooting in Texas years ago where a woman could have dropped the shooter early on but her gun was in the trunk of her car because she could not bring it into the restaurant.

And then compare that to the recent shooting in Colorado Springs where an armed volunteer church member dropped the perp before he could do much damage.

And then tell us who is actually nuts when it comes to concealed carry laws and the right to self-defense.

Conservatism is not something that can be taught over the course of a couple of posts. If you’re liberal now, it will take a change of heart and a lot of reading. Liberalism is about feelings, a useless way to try to govern. It will take a lot of reading and thought on your part if you want to learn about conservatism. If it could be summed up in one thought it would be: “get government out of the way.”

In the end, you are solely responsible for your own thoughts and beliefs. (Please note: I did not say "feelings" - that's a deeper and more delicate topic)

You have asked questions, which is the best place to start. You phrased the question in terms of why we believe in conservatism, although I think you are really asking why you should (or should not - depending on the outcome of your personal deliberations) believe in it. You asked the correct question, by the way. We cannot convince you to believe in conservatism, but we are well capable of giving you information on which to ponder and draw your own conclusions.

Ask as many questions as you feel necessary, but remember that the way you phrase a question can substantially alter the answers you get. Here on this site, it is quite usual to see calls for "zots" when a poster asks a question in an inflammatory manner. I don't see where you have done this to thid point, though, so I (at least) will continue to treat your questions with as much thoughtful consideration as I can.

One more nickel's worth of free advice, if I may: Respond to thoughtful posts in kind, and feel free to not respond to thoughtless ones! ;-P

It’s up to you to educate yourself.
