Thank you all so much for your prayers. I’ve got an update. Yesterday, I went in for a blood test. The VA called me this morning and said the blood test shows I have diabetes. Why it never showed up on earlier tests no one knows. Now I have an appointment for tomorrow to pick up “supplies” and learn how to give myself injections. Ouch! Not looking forward at all to this.

Still praying for you Jim.
Maybe they should run that blood test again, to be sure.

Jim ... you are still in my prayers.
Diabetes would explain the slow healing. It could also explain the trouble with your toe.
Ahh .... whats a little needle? :^ )

I was thinking that diabetes might be part of the problem. My brother is also a diabetic and has trouble with a place on his toe that never heals. Your symptoms with your toe sounds very similar.
I sympathize with you. I sure wouldn't look forward to having to give myself injections either. In fact, that is one of the reasons I never even thought about becoming a nurse, I don't think I could ever draw blood or give injections. :-(
But, I know you can do it and it won't be long before it will be no big deal.
Please know that jk and MamaBear are keeping you in prayer. Stay strong, Jim. We need you back out on the corner of Blackstone and Shaw, happy and healthy!
Thanks for the ping, Amy.

Well, that explains a lot, but it doesn’t improve my confidence in doctors. But knowing that will give them more to go on to get you healed. Big time prayers for healing and comfort. Thank you Jesus, for what you will do.

I'm so sorry to hear about the diabetes. God bless you as you learn about it, and adjust to the changes that you will be making to control it.
Keeping you in prayer...

Coincidence? Inquiring minds want to know..... ;-)
Seriously, sorry to hear about the diabetes. Keep up with it and you’ll do OK. Don’t keep up with it and...

Cinnamon in capsules has been shown to decrease the need for insulin. I think the research is available on the net.
Am into some partial liquid, fruit fasting this week and praying extra for you, still.

My prayers are with you Mr. Robinson. I can’t believe they didn’t catch this earlier or that it didn’t show up on other tests. Thank God that they figured it out. Prayers for your adjustment to the diabetic lifestyle and healing for your other health issues. God bless you.

The VA called me this morning and said the blood test shows I have diabetes. My mother was on every medication known to man for diabetes and heart failure for over twenty years. She cooked her last great meal before she went in for knee replacement. (in retrospect a bad idea since she had a stroke after surgery and died a few months later) She was functional, useful and happy until she was 85 while in the clutches of her regular docs. She followed orders.

A1C reading? That's a big jump from not knowing to having to take injections! Maybe with diet and exercise you can get off the injections, Jim.
Prayers up!

So sorry to read that. And at post "666", it's like a bad omen.
I, too, have to test mine. I can control mine by diet.....good luck to you.

Jim, diabetes is a pain in the ‘you know where’ but once you get into the swing of it, the diet, testing and meds, become a habit that you can live with. My husband has had type 2 diabetes for years. First he took pills and now he is on injections. If he can do it you can do it. He has insulin pens that he carries in his pocket without refrigeration all day. He can give himself an injection any place, any time.
