Taking the Reconquista concept all the way to the end, Absolut Vodka launched an ad campaign that appears on billboards and at least one magazine that features a map of the western U.S. and Mexico with nearly the entire west coast appearing as a part of Mexico. This ad appears in Quien Magazine, which is owned by Time Warner and also appears on billboards in Mexico. Quien claims a "total audience" of 513,000 readers in Mexico and the southwestern U.S.
The map covers what used to be Mexico's claimed borders before our 1846 war with them from which the U.S. took possession of California, Texas, New Mexico, etc. But, the ad shows those states as part of Mexico with the "Estados Unidos De America" situated to the north and east of the "Absolut World" Mexico.
In a day when immigration issues are incendiary between our two countries, Time Warner accepting ads that stirs Mexico's sentiments to "take back" parts of the U.S. (as the term Reconquista means) as their own territory is quite extraordinary.

An Absolut Disgrace!
PING!
I’m a big fan of Chopin.
If you like flavors - Hangar One and Three Olives are just awesome. Hangar one has a tasting room not far from my house (hic) and they do a very nice job. I have their Raspberry and Citrus in the house now. As well as Three Olives Cherry - which is a little too sweet - but nice after diner.
A dear friend brings me Chopin straight from Poland and another friend brings me Blue Ice from Idaho.
I’m a lucky Martini Drinker.
;-)
And Absolut lost me....
Dear Gringo de Mexico:
I was apalled (sp?) to hear about your Absolut World ad in Quien magazine. It is an Absolut disgrace to portray the corrupt nation of Mexico as having retaken American land. If you really believe in that garbage, why don't you move your headquarters down there and see how long you last before the Mexican government plunders you for every last penny.
(If I were in charge, I would have you indicted for treason for advocating the retaking of American land by Mexico, in effect sympathizing with Reconquista elements, which are, by definition, enemies of America. It would stand up in court because way more than two people have seen your ad.)
Sincerely,
Pretty sad, if Treason is now “just business.”
Learn Spanish.
Absolutly. :-)
Thanks for sharing! I could be your dear FRiend, too...
The Banner is in English.

I also just forwarded an email stating that I'll be doing the same to the contact guy.
Maybe you’d like an ad by the Palestinians that showed no Israel, or a German beer ad that showed the 1914 map of Europe, with no Poland. Maybe you don’t take American soverignty seriously, but it’s not a joke to me. If that makes me “grumpy”, or a DU’er, I don’t see it.
Send me vodka and we’ll talk.
;-)
Real Russians aren’t drinking Absolut.
Trust me.
“Real Russians arent drinking Absolut.”
Not the ones in the States, no. They can afford Stoli now.
What’s “soverignty”? I can’t find that word in any English Dictionary.
It makes you a nancy boy just like all those mooslims who get excited about the drawing of Mohammad.
To say this ad is an attack on US Sovereignty is like saying the Confederate Flag is an attack on US Sovereignty.
Wow, you got me on a misspelling. What a hero.
If you think being pro-American makes me a “nancy-boy”, then I can see where you’re coming from, and you’re not worth any more of my time. Go back to your La Raza rally.
