I kind of agree, though honestly, the only time I’ve heard ‘slut, tramp stamp, back tat is SEXY!’ is here. Seriously. Everyone I know personally is kind of like “What!?!” when I’ve asked them about it being seen as slutty, followed by a quick “I’ll kick their butts!”
Also, I know little girls love stickers, those funny little fake pictures you can rub on and having things painted on their faces. The issue clearly is location and exposure more than the actual tattoo itself, which I agree, is pandering to the lowest denominator.
But-— I also know that many who freak about a fake lower back tat on a little girl (which she could do on her own, I’ve seen niece with Cinderall stickers all over her)....
I know that these are the same parents who let there little gilrs take dance from Miss Suzies School of Dance where they learn the ‘newest’ spraddle legged hip hop inspired....locks, drops and pops. As well as these being the same parents who go to a sporting event to see JR. High teens doing some of the same ‘Look at my crotch’ cheers and moves AND these may be some of the same parents who think nothing of having a baby Jon Benet enter into the local “Little Miss I Look Like a Big Girl” pageant.
IOW, one thing is so minor (in my eyes) as compared to what sexy stuff is acceptable, even in the backwoods of the Southern US. And yes, I see it a lot, because folks freak at having us perform, then we go on after Miss Suzies Teens and look like Nuns. :)
Boy, that's the truth. One reason my daughter isn't taking dance classes any more was the totally inappropriate, provocative music and choreography they were using, even with preteen girls. I've seen a few Middle Eastern dance performances that were vulgar ("No, dear, Gypsies don't lift their skirts and show their panties. They'd be ostracized from the community, along with everyone who saw the display."). However, that's the exception, for performers who have any kind of talent and training, at least in my experience.

Here at the office....amungst my metrosexual, latte drinking, powerbar eating, volvo driving coworkers...I am Mr. Backwoods Country Redneck because I chew tobacco and drink beer and have real man hands and do mechanic work on the side.
