Looking these up now....are they on I8/10?

No, Squantos and Eaker are real people, not podunk Texas towns.

(Except in their dreams, maybe).

And a side trip to Iran is worth it just to say you’ve been there.

C'mon, it's Iraan, named after Ira and Ann Yates.

The Alley Oop park is there, because the cartoonist lived there.

It's not really worth seeing.

I guess if you pull off the interstate to get some fast food, and see the concrete dinosaurs, you can say, "been there, done that", but you really don't even need to do it once.

I can say for a fact that is not true!
Austin actually has some Christian conservatives!

Yeayh, but they all have love beads hanging in the doorway to their kitchens. Admit it.

Austin is a great town, and it’s in a great location.

But as long as you have a nude magnet on a nearby lake called Hippie Hollow, you’re just asking for it.

Austin is not the center of Texas conservatism.

I’ll concede that quite a few folks live behind liberal lines, and more power to them. But you’re definitely outnumbered.

Mpackard, I'm sorry we confused you. We were joking around about two freepers who live in Texas. Eaker is outside of Houston and Squantos lives in the panhandle almost into Oklahoma. I was pointing out to Larry (who is some sort of yankee and knows very little about Texas ;^) that once you get to ElPaso, you are about as close to San Diego as you are to other points in Texas....

Best of luck to your daughter on her trip.

Someone near & dear to me lives there....

..and although conservative to the core, manages to thrive there.

Texas Hill Country is lovely!

No, actually it is a telephone # on the back of every Texas drivers license..

The Texas Highway Dept. runs roadside assisstance trucks up and down the highways and will dispatch - free of charge - someone to assist you if you call them.
