I learned last night that the elderly husband of one of my cousins fell off his ladder awhile back, bruised a rib, and probably injured his hip...he already has pain issues with his back so this is not good.
Too many stories lately of seniors injuring themselves in avoidable accidents....
That reminds me of our next door neighbors in IL. He must’ve been in his 90’s when we sold our house after living next door to them for 19 years. He was very tight with his money and wouldn’t pay for a gutter cleaning service, insisting to get up on ladders and do it himself.
He wanted Mr. Prairie to sell him our ladder and Mr. Prairie refused telling the neighbor that he wasn’t going to have him fall off a ladder that we sold to him.
It didn’t change anything because when we saw them again about a year later, the neighbor made it a point of telling hubby that he had cleaned out the gutters himself, LOLOL!
We didn’t hear from them last Christmas for the first time in over twenty years. She’d developed Alzheimers and they were in an assisted living facility, having been convinced they their kids to sell the house. I wish I knew how they were doing.
