Any Dxer's Or HAMS out there interested in opening a Dxer Forum?
I'm new to this stuff and could use some FRiends to surf the waves with.
I got lucky- when the Naval Air Station here closed, the airport part of it turned in to had one of those "old guys" open an avionics repair shop, and he kept mine tuned and repaired. A lot of military technicians seem to have worked on them while in service.
I got interested in radioteletype (RTTY) and set the shack up to eavesdrop on commercial news feeds. Unfortunately, the services started switching to satellites in the eighties, and much of that interesting traffic became Silent Keys.
It was the best comms receiver ever made for sensitivity and selectivity. hook one up to a wollenweber antenna
Right, I have a 10 year old Yachtboy 400, it has similiar features, but the 1102 is smaller.
What do you mean by ‘confuser’ that you hooked up to?
Love DX’ing, any kind of AM or SSB reception is fine by me.
For ham radio my pleasure is CW mostly, Fists & SKCC. Turn that Degen on for ARRL Field Day if you haven’t already, you won’t believe the signals on there! :-)
***The 1102 doest have single sideband does it?***
AT4G
Confuser = computer LoL Nytexan coined that term
NJ4M very clear at 14178 ssb
The 1102 does have SSB. My mistake.
this 1103 is tiny!
bet i could make a rhombiod antennea and use the chainlink fence for a ground plain for next to nothing
Most of my air time is CW. Just joined the SKCC group.

Bump
New Dxer here.
I would love have HAM equipment.
Its like the internet before there was internet.
Tie it to the internet and its really interesting.
Beacon now going out on 14178 khz
Beacon sounded and now I lost them.
How do beacons work? It was a short little xmission
Next project is to get the dipole up above the house line. Then will start playing with other keys as I'm pretty much maxed out on sending speed on the straight key.
Yeah I wanna make an 8 finger dipole too.
Me thinks the radio traffic is shifting to 40m now.
Its signals are getting weak
Congrats to you on new to ham radio and CW.
You’ll love SKCC, is very good for learning to use manual type keys.
I would also recommend Fists as they focus less on the key, use paddles mostly. Besides preservance of CW they focus on slower steady sending and good QSO protocol.
I like ham radio discussions here on FR occasionally, a good break from politics! :-)
***Fairly new ham here. Not much of a DXer, but would look in on a DX forum from time to time.
Most of my air time is CW. Just joined the SKCC group.

Time to fry up some chicken.
Be back in a bit. Good to see you all out there riding the waves
I get sick of politics L0l
heh heh heh
Havent done morse in a dogs age.
I did once get a chopper to land using morse with a sig gen. cause the spread spectrum freq hopping radio was down.
Sometimes simple is effective
