A Manor man allegedly tried to find a faster way home after tipping a few. Louis E. Bevilacqua, 33, of 28 S. Railroad St., was charged Tuesday with stealing a Mutual Aid ambulance shortly before 2 a.m. from outside the Sunoco convenience store on Mt. Pleasant Street in Greensburg. That’s funny! I know exactly where that is. There are a couple of bars within a block or two.

Wifey was from Calumet, and I grew up in Irwin; haven’t been back in 15 years; but remember Manor. They had parades there when I was young as I remember.

They still do have parades in Manor...but no more neato costumes (Dvorsky’s closed). I’m in No. Huntingdon :)

We have a parade of sorts here in Eagle (4 miles from Canadian border along the Yukon River)on the 4th July; half the community watches while the other half go past.

I actually miss alot from around the burgh but can't bring myself to move back, bet everything has changed. Is Medic's farm still there? I remember when there were driveins everywhere along rt 30.

We have several dishes, center ice & super fan, so watch all the steel town sports, Savran & all the local W Pa. high school sports. Anyway, if I had to live in lower 48, would be in the Burgh.

Manor is home to the fabulous "Manor House" tavern.

The answer to the question "What kind of bar is open on Christmas?"

Alllll of the drive ins are gone (infact the last one, out in Latrobe became a SuperDuper WallyWorld). Medic's farm is still there (but I think it sold outside the family). His son is our family doctor. If you remember Barnes Lake Road in North Huntingdon (runs from 30 to Clay Pike) well almost all of the family farms there have sold and now the land sports 'McMansions.' PennDOT dragged its feet on traffic plans and Wal-Mart pulled out building a SuperDuper one at Barnes Lake at Rte. 30 (but we are sure they will be back).

Glad that you keep up w/all of the local sports teams...we travel alot up and down the East coast w/our kids' sports and inevitably where we play, somebody on the opposing team has a parent who is a relocated Yunzer. Alsways happens.

The Manor House Tavern is still there. And fortunately, I have no knowledge of whether or not they were open on Christmas (but I wouldn't be surprised if it was). The only Western PA traditional 'open' business is Sheetz (yunz can get a hot drink for free on Xmas). I always liked (prior to EZPass) going to relatives' to visit, taking the Turnpike and paying my toll to the uber Grinchy PennDOT employee who was no doubt making $1700 per hour w/Holiday bonus incentives....LOL

The Manor House Tavern is still there.

I know, I'm in Hempfield.

I think Wal Mart ran away because they found something likely to cause a landslide.

Thanks for the update. My brother-in-law said all the farmland around calumet had huge homes on it now too. Funny, I remember when I was quite young; we lived about a half mile outside Irwin. Us kids would walk over Irwin to buy nickel cherry cokes at Rosendahls soda fountain shop, stop at 5&10, Browns cigg/comic book shop, Sam Samsons, and on and on. We left even before that new bypass that crossed rt 30 came thru (between jeanette & greengate mall.

Most our relatives have moved south over the years but wifey's brothers still live in Latrobe & Calumet.

Entirely diff world from where we live now. Eagle is a bush river community, 200 whites, 28 indians 185 miles down a summer open dirt road from nx town; actually split community and they all want to keep it that way, ha. No locks on doors, no keys ever removed from vehicles, once it warms up everyone usually has guns on their belts for bear protection and yet hasn't been a murder in 29 years;;; and that guy was drowned in river by his drunk buddies. No crime to speak of but I still miss all that ethnic food & communities around the burgh. Our kids are starting at UAF this fall and they can't wait to get outta this place, ha; guess that's the same everywhere. PM me your email, and will send some picts from around here if you want to see some. Then you can send some from North Huntingdon.

Are you sure about the Latrobe drivein being gone? It was still there summer of 06, after the walmart had gone in.
