If you don’t know who they are, as I do with most of them, do they still qualify as ‘celebrities’, i.e. people known for being known?

"I don’t believe that the Muslims have all the answers and all the beliefs. I don’t believe the Christians have all the answers and beliefs, or that the Jews have all the answers."

I knew I liked him.

Read more of the thread, or, God forbid, do some research before you decide.

Looking at that list, I think I need to expand my movie genre tastes beyond ‘science fiction’... maybe include ‘fantasy’ or ‘action’ as well?

Or TV or music?

I think Beck is the easiest one. I remember when I first heard he was a scientologist I was like yeah that makes a lot of sense. Of course his music might not be as cool if he didn’t worship space aliens.

Most of these people believe only in themselves. They join Scientology because they can say they belong to a religion.

This "Church" puts no spiritual or moral demands on them, it just demands periodic financial hits. They can live their lives any way they choose with no Ten Commandments or religious creeds to cramp their life styles.

With its roster of wealthy celebrities, the "Church" is happy, the "parishioners" (hah) are happy......and L. Ron HubbaHubba is happy because he enrolled Old Beezlebub into the "Church" a couple of decades ago........for a considerable donation of cold.....er, hot cash, of course.

OK... I’m now thinking of my ‘cafeteria Muslim’ ex-roommate, who, as far as I can tell, has probably done almost everything she wasn’t supposed to do and didn’t do anything that she should have... I’m now lost at where the ‘Muslim’ part came in at all, except possibly in an admissions essay.

I don’t think it is accurate. Cruise has been trying to recruit him.

Well, it may be useful to bear in mind the phrase “associated with” at the head of the article. Hardcore membership may not be the qualification to make the list.

I remember being disappointed to learn that the late musician Jimmy Spheeris was a Scientologist, and that one of his most memorable songs, “I Am the Mercury,” was his love letter to L. Ron Hubbard.

The emptiness of this group reminds me of Obamas change campaign. Could the change talked about by Obama have it's roots in Scientology?

This "Church" Obama's democratic party puts no spiritual or moral demands on them, it just demands periodic financial hits. They can live their lives any way they choose with no Ten Commandments or religious creeds to cramp their life styles.

With its roster of wealthy celebrities, the "Church" is happy, the "parishioners" (hah) are happy......and L. Ron Hubba Hubba Barack H. Obama is happy because he enrolled Old Beelzebub into the "Church" a couple of decades ago change things to the way there were before........for a considerable donation of cold.....er, hot cash, of course.

Scientology seems quite entertaining and if I had money to burn, I might get “in” on it.

I predict you'd change your mind after some serious reading on the subject.

Is that a line they have to cross?

Does a mugger have to mug ShadowDancer before we take action against him?
