Years ago my mom’s friend worked security at a fancy Chicago hotel. Neil Diamond stayed there and complained to security that people were staring at him.

David Cook

Neil: He's got the right attitude, he's got the right material, he's got the right voice.

Cook sings "I'm Alive". He's playing the electric guitar.

It's good but short.

Cook seems more arrogant than usual tonight. He flashes a condescending smile at the camera, like he's doing us all a favor for being there. His entire attitude is off-putting, IMO.

She sings "I'm a believer". And plays the acoustic guitar.

I liked it, but so far none of the performances have been remarkable.

His second song is "September Morn". No guitar this time.

This song sounds better than the first. But still ... meh.

Randy: I don't know what's happening. That was just another okay performance for me. Definitely not the best.

Paula: Safe. Get outside of your comfort zone.

Simon: We don't recognize you. You struggled through both songs. Both forgettable. I think when you look back at tonight's performances, you're not going to know who this person is.

His second song is "All I Need Is You".

Finally! A standout performance. Excellent.

Randy: You rocked the house again tonight!

Paula: I'm so proud of you. You are the only one that was able to pull that off. I feel like I'm already looking at the American Idol.

Simon: I'm going to be honest with you: the first song was okay. The second song was brilliant. You made it sound like that song was written this year.

His second song is "America"--a song I always associate with illegal immigrants, LOL.

Randy: Definitely in the zone, baby.

Paula: Brilliant.

Simon: That was a smart choice of song. That was clever. It ticked all the boxes, didn't it? Check, check, check. Very good.

I don't understand the judges comments--it sounded pretty average to me.
