NEW ROCHELLE (NEW YORK): A suburban police sergeant who is married to a New York anchorwoman was charged on Wednesday with raping a 17-year-old girl hours after he helped arrest her boyfriend at her house.
New Rochelle sergeant David Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to forcible rape, agreed to an order of protection keeping him away from the teenager and posted $25,000 bail. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
Rodriguez did not speak after the arraignment, but his attorney Stephen Worth said the charge was false and the investigation was slipshod. He said the girl "has a number of motives to make up a false allegation," but he did not elaborate.
The sergeant's wife, Darlene Rodriguez, was in tears before the arraignment. She left the courthouse dry-eyed with her husband and said, "I'm here to support my husband. I believe in him. I love him. He's innocent 100%."
Rodriguez, 36, of Croton-on-Hudson, was suspended without pay on Wednesday. The teen's 35-year-old boyfriend had been arrested on an assault charge after police went to their home February 8.
Rodriguez, a nine-year police veteran, was among the officers who went to the home later that day and arrested the man again, this time for violating an order of protection that had been issued that morning.

The vic had details about his nether regions that the police apparently confirmed. This anchor babe is quite the Tammy Wynette. I’d say it’s either a rape or a vengeful mistress. Either way it aint looking good for the cop.
it is hard to believe, but rather a lot of people don’t know how DNA evidence works. The teenager may think that there is no difference between her boyfriend’s DNA and the cop’s. Such deficiencies in knowledge are more common among those teenagers who would willingly accept an older boyfriend.
The truth will out.

Admittedly 17 and 35 violates the standard half-age-plus-seven rule for non-creepiness, but 17 is age of consent in New York, so her boyfriend is not a ‘child molesting scumbag’ even if he is a thug.
