Conspiracy theorists are having a field day with the Eliot Spitzer story, and they have good reason: Wall Street titan Ken Langone, one of Spitzers archest of enemies, made it sound as though theres more to the story.
Check out this transcript from a CNBC interview with Langone that aired yesterday:
CNBC: Would you say that you were surprised by this news?
LANGONE: Not at all. I had no doubt about his lack of character and integrity. It would only be a matter of time, I didnt think he would do it this soon or the way he did it. But I know for sure he went himself to a post office and bought $2,800 worth of mail orders to send to the hooker.

I saw a discussion later than the sqawk box one....just before power lunch....
Does he mean "money orders" or are we talking items out of the Lands' End catalogue?
Yikes! Imagine the book(s) being written as we speak..
Don’t piss off folks with deep pockets.
2800 bucks is Sharper Image territory.
By the way, Ken Langone is a great conservative and a great American. I've actually spoken on the phone with him a couple of times. He is a sharp dude.
With all the enemies Spitzer made, it seems almost inconceivable that none of them had him under surveillance. I’m sure that banks and federal agencies do track suspicious money movements, which are said to be what tripped up ol’ Eliot, but it certainly wouldn’t be surprising to learn they were tipped off on where to look.
