But the "hall" is a joke. It takes this long to get the Ventures in? They only influenced every electric guitarist on the planet. Yet Johnny Cougar gets inducted? Madonna isn't even rock and roll. Kids today still play Ventures licks...they just don't know it. They picked it up from their favorite band, who picked it up from their favorite band, who picked it up from....The Ventures.
The Ventures should get a standing O when they’re introduced.
In all serousness, we would have been better off had Wakeman become a classical pianist, and Jon Anderson not ever gotten behind a microphone.
Now that's a hard core opinion! But I'm gonna have to disagree with you, there. I'm not even really sure if Rush belongs in a true hall of fame. They've had a very long career, to be sure, with many, many albums. But they probably never had a top 100 song--maaaaaybe Tom Sawyer. They probably never got played on any format besides rock. I bet when people vote on the best rock songs of all time, there are no Rush songs. Geddy Lee is beyond just being a bad singer. Their early sound is very dated and cheesy. Their best period--Hemispheres to Moving Pictures--is somewhat sterile. And everything since is beyond sterile. It's completely antiseptic. So much for Rush.
Yes? They definitely have a handful of classic anthems--"I've Seen All Good People" and "Roundabout." But it wouldn't bother me if they were not inducted.
Agree with you on E. Costello, too.
________-
At least Elvis Costello plays the kind of music the Hall of Fame is dedicated to ...
and Elvis has written and performed a number of very hummable (is that a word?) tunes (e.g., Alison, My aim is true, everyday I write the book)
Their recording of Baja was one of the best! I think the Astronauts did the original.
If memory serves the R&RHOF does not allow lip syncing at the performances. This might be the stumbling block.
11,500 is chump change these days for collectible instruments. I just saw that Kobain’s mosrite sold for over 130K

"Spirit of Radio" (1980) and "Time Stand Still" (1987) both made the top 40.
Van Halen was inducted last year. The only two members of the band that showed up to perform, weren't even in the band anymore.
I used to like VH. No longer.
I saw Rush perform once, about 20 years ago (Roll the Bones tour? Maybe?).
Neil Peart is a MONSTER behind the drum kit. The rest of the band supports him, instead of the other way 'round.
Madonna? Pop=yes, Rock=no
Driving through some farming community I once saw a sign inviting one and all to visit something called the Artichoke Hall of Fame (Or maybe it was Asparagus, I don’t quite remember.) So that’s what I, and Johnny Lydon too, by the way, think of poofter Jann Wenner’s commercial venture discussed being here. Hall of Fame of the Lame, that’s what it is!
Ummmm...in SOME states.
People who don't get them know squat about rock music history.
I liked their version of “Do You Love Me,” but they were merely a ho-hum pop band that pretended for a year to be London’s answer to the Beatles, just as the Bay City Rollers were going to be Scotland’s answer to the Beatles.
Leonard Cohen is more of a poet than anything else. Kinda like putting Lawrence Ferlinghetti or Alan Ginsburg in the hall.

These people at the “Hall of Fame” are apparently tearing their hair out to produce a racial quota and be politically correct.
