1. The stock market dropped below 12000 today. What, if anything, does that change mean to you?

Remember when Bush 41 was in office and the DJIA was around 2500-3000 and when it hit 4000 it was kind of a big deal? I was always sort of amazed by that...

That and when stock prices were reflected in fractions rather than decimals. (e.g.: you'd have things like AXN 35 1/4 on the stock ticker on CNBC). Ah, the good ol' days...

I vaguely remember those days. I didn’t pay much attention at that time in my life. I wish I had paid more attention.

Yes those hamster balls are a hoot! A few years ago I had a wonderful hairless hamster and he'd roll that ball around all over the house! It was amazing.

The hamster, who I think I'll name Bun Bun, is in a ten gallon aquarium up on a dresser and the cat occasionally looks up there if he is out eating his hamster seeds or something. I took the water bottle away and replaced it with a small heavy ashtray full of water. Problem was Bun Bun spent all night chewing on the water bottle wire and constantly try to climb it. I think in a way we are both glad it is gone.

I have to go back to Pet Supermarket and get a proper solid lid with holes for the aquarium. When I bought Bun Bun I forgot my aquarium lid was solid - half clear plastic and half solid flip-up lid so as a person could feed the fish or whatever. That means half the top is completely open. What I'd like is one of these "tank toppers" that I see on the internet. It is a square wire cage that is bottomless and you snap it onto the aquarium so the animal can have a two or three story house. The upper floors being a nice open airy wire cage and the bottom the inside of the aquarium.

Regular one : http://www.petdiscounters.com/10-Gallon-Tank-Topper-p794.html

Luckily a case of cat obesity keeps the cat on the floor. No way could he get up there to cause any trouble. I sometimes toy with the idea of putting a baby gate or an open/shut pet gate on my extra bedroom door so I have birds again and perhaps a guinea pig. I'm sure the cat could not jump over a gate. But if that worrys me I could put a hardware screen door thingie in the doorway. At the same time I hate to cut the cat off from a whole room since it would take part of his already limited world away. But it is all just daydreaming at this stage anyway.

1. Do you have a specific, written bucket list, a rough idea of things that you'd include if you did have a bucket list, or does that idea not appeal to you?

Well, I'm doing one of them next weekend as I'll be playing a tournament or two when the World Poker Tour is in Reno this month. I never got the chance to play in any of the tournaments when I lived in Reno so this is a chance I've waited for a very long time to do.

I have one of those tank toppers. I bought it for a tank that they call a “15 high.” The tank has the same area as a ten gallon tank, but the height is about fifteen or eighteen inches. I figured that when I added the topper, I’d have a good cage for another crested gecko. However, I’ve never found another crested gecko that I absolutely had to get. Even though I haven’t used the tank or topper yet, I’m pleased with the design. I think that the topper will do what I wanted when I ordered it. I just have to find the right animal to put in that cage.

It is good to have an extra cage. You never know when you might get a new pet or find an injured bird or a little orphan something or other.

Let see....
Food I do for a living.
Travel would be terrific. Italy, Ireland, and Switzerland.
I will ruminate the others!

I used my lunch hour to research stock.
I thought it might be a good opportunity to dollar cost average some that took a significant drop.
Decided against it. I think the market will go lower.
I am currently looking at BA with the possibility of a protest against the airbus contract.
I currently have DVY and 3 mutual funds. Trying to be more diversified, but its a process:)

My supper is calling. Vivere per mangiare!!

It means we're maybe 1/2 way to the bottom (1000 on S&P)

I would of course like to be more optimistic, I have a fair amount in the market (to maintain diversity in case I'm wrong). But the market will follow interest rates down again because borrowing (and therefore LBOs) will not pick up until the rates are perceived to have bottomed.

I don’t have a bucket list written down but I’d really like to do a road trip across the United States...I’d like to visit all the states I haven’t been to yet. I’ve also thought about going back to school...maybe work on my PhD but not sure what I’d want to get it in...I have a master’s in nursing but I don’t want to get a doctorate in nursing-I’d like to do something different.

I don’t know a lot about the stock market but I do have some stocks...guess I should pay closer attention as to what the market is doing.

I have two dogs and I don’t think either has done anything of note lately...My older dog is getting really barky though which drives me nuts...every little noise sets her off...

On the weekends I usually sleep in until 8 or so...I’d love to sleep later but the dogs are usually wanting to eat and they start whining if I’m not up by 8...sometimes I stay in my pj’s most of the day if I don’t have any plans to go out.

No “bucket list” so far...but there are a few things I would like to do before I pass...

TWO of those things , which I long wished to do since a kid are now IMPOSSIBLE, no matter how(or IF) rich I become in the future.

(1—go up on top of the WTC and “look around for awhile” as Macaulay Caulkin did in Home alone II Those terrorists took care of that dream.

(2— take a flight in the Concorde. the goneesse crash in 2000 nixed that idea too.

Still—there a re a number of other things, i want to do in life.::

Get my screenplay made into a movie.

Be involved in bringing cold fusion into the forefront of energy production.

Be involved in fuel cell technology and its adoption in the automotive and home power markets.

Get my idea in production, and on the market.

Get Laurie's idea in production, and the market.

Have a hand in blowing down a high-rise building with a demolition crew—perhaps CDI.

Drive ALL AROUIND this country, for the fun of it.

Find a woman like Kim or better yet, like Laurie, for myself.

I hope that the market doesn’t go too much lower, but I’ve also moved to fair amount of cash. I want to be able to jump back into things when we hit the bottom.

I did a road trip across the United States after I earned my first master's degree. I had grown up in the eastern part of the country, so I used the trip to see the West. I went in October of '88. I bought a truck and a bed shell. I set up a bit of a bed in the truck bed, so I could camp in the truck. I was out for 55 days. I mostly saw national parks and did day hiking and photography.

Where would you like to go? What would you see?

Yep, you've had a couple of dreams that are already impossible. I guess you might end up going to the top of whatever tower replaces the WTC. I don't know whether someone will build a new passenger SST. Ultimately, I think someone will fill that market someday.

As I said in my previous post, I took a trip around the country after my first master's degree. For me, the trip was about day hiking and photography, mostly in national parks. I camped in the back of a pickup truck most of the time.

What would you do on this trip? Where would you go? Would you camp or stay in hotels? Would you see natural areas or cities?

What part would you play in cold fusion or fuel cell technology? Are you planning to go back to college for a degree to work in these areas? I've known a few people who've done a bit of research on these things.

Bill

Yep, I have a couple of extra cages. They really aren’t set up at this point, but I’m working on one of them right now. I’d like to move one guy who is going to grow out of his cage sometime soon.

1. The stock market dropped below 12000 today. What, if anything, does that change mean to you?

I'm just a poor boy so stocks don't affect me all that much. Still, I am concerned about the way the country is going economically with the loss of our manufacturing jobs and so on but that's for another time.

2. Have any of your pets done anything noteworthy this week?

Rascal, my 10 month old kitten is a handful, he likes to turn on my ghetto blaster during them idle of the night. B-)

3. What time do you like to get up on the weekends?

When I feel like it unless I have to do something. It is going to snow tomorrow so I'll have to to run Mom to work in my 4x4 Ford "Exploder." B-)

Well, I know the WTC is gone but you still have the Empire State Building. The Chrysler Building is pretty tall too. Myself, I'd like to have see the WTC along with the Empire State Building and Chrysler. As a bonus, I'd like to see 30 Rock too.

Be involved in bringing cold fusion into the forefront of energy production.

I'd like to know your thoughts on cold fusion. I kind of shrug my shoulders on that one, I'm a bit dubious yet I'd like to see if it would work too.

Get my idea in production, and on the market.

Go, man, go!

Drive ALL AROUIND this country, for the fun of it.

Me too, ever since I saw the TV show, "Shazam," when I was a kid, I thought it would be cool to take a Winnebago around the country.

Find a woman like Kim or better yet, like Laurie, for myself.

Still kind of looking but I hear ya.

I think I'll put one goal up for me, get my General (at least) amateur radio license.

I remember when the stock market going past 1000 again was a big deal, it was 1981 IIRC, I was in junior high. I also remember the fractions like 1/4, 1/8, and so on. I think the smallest was 1/8 IIRC. BTW, when did stocks go decimal?

BTW, when did stocks go decimal?

It was pretty recently, with the advent of the internet and what have you. But I was so much better with fractions than I was with decimals in school that I was sort of disappointed. I may have to dig up something more substantial on that sometime tonight or when I'm working graveyard tomorrow.
