Once they changed the rules to allow movies like “An Inconvenient Truth” to be considered “documentary,” it’s been downhill all the way.

They say you can tell the believers from the blackmailed pretty easily. A guy like Travolta comes to the defense of Scientology almost as if forced to, whereas a guy like Cruise is always preaching the Scientology gospel.

I thought the Academy would always give it to Julie, I’m surprised and glad about this one - this French woman is a great actress I understand.

As long as you mean funny “HaHa” and not “Heath Ledger” funny. ;)

Most of the gossip is they are invitro - due to her not being able to conceive again and that ol’ Brad wants more or else. (who knows?) I bet Jennifer Anniston is soooooo glad now she isn’t the mother of seven.

I guess I’ll have to see one of these movies now.
But I resent the way they advertise around here prior to the voting. They shove these movies down our throats in commercials long after the initial release, constantly saying how “important” the movie is, the “best ever,” “don’t miss this” etc.
They interview the actors on stations owned by or connected to the studios. It almost seems as if the more money a studio has to spend on advertising for votes, the more likely the movie will win. It’s endless until the votes are all in.

Did you know Cary Grant never won an Oscar? Neither did Peter O’Toole, or Hitchcock.
To: Borges
The Academy is generally a conservative body that dooesnt like political speeches and usually cuts them off.The Academy isn't responsible for the production of the show, only the nominations and awards. All of the politcally-charged noms where in the Full Doc category. It's no coincidence that the production team chose to place the troops ahead of the most politically-correct award.
To: bd476
Didnt they do Oh, Brother Where Art Thou?Yes, bd. Another excellent movie. One of my faves.

It is also pretty well known that Travoltas son, Jett, is austic. Aspergers autistic or profoundly autistic?

Well, I said that until I saw it. Michael Clayton is absolutely terrific. One of the best I have seen in a long time and has a great subtle twist in it. Clooney has never been one of my favorites, but I have to admit, he’s pretty good in it.
