AMPAS doesn’t know who’s going to get applause or how much. That said, you’re right that the Doc categories are always controversial and they should have given them Art Direction or something. Good idea. So so execution. Remember the award the troops actually gave out was to a same sex marriage special pleading short film.

It is also pretty well known that Travolta’s son, Jett, is austic. It has been speculated that they keep him pretty much hidden because of it, Scientology of course doesn’t recognize such a “disorder”. His daughter Ella Blue is making a movie with him soon but you never ever see Jett.
