Larry the Cable Guy's "Witless Protection" is coming out on Academy Awards weekend, but producer J.P. Williams knows the silly crime comedy is a far better bet next year to snag a Golden Raspberry award for dubious achievement than Oscar gold.
"We shoot for the Razzies," said Williams, who has built a lucrative empire around Larry, the country fried alter ego of Dan Whitney, and his feller "blue-collar" comedians.

"Certain studios are in it for statues, but I'm in it to make money because it's my money on the line," Williams said.

I wonder if any writer has ever had his project pulled because it strayed too far to the LEFT.
Crickets...
My editor is a pretty liberal guy (we love to argue politics), and he thinks even libs will enjoy the movie!
I’m not as familiar with TV personnel, having only done a few episodes, years ago.
Duvall is one of the greatest actors around. It was quite a thrill having him in one of my movies.
Good to know you can co-exist with your editor. As long as both parties understand the basic principle of the movie industry is that you HAVE TO MAKE YOUR INVESTMENT BACK, then you will have a great relationship.
Did I mention to you that my lib friends as Scientologists who will vote for Obama? LOL!
“I had the right to remain silent. But not the ability.”
ROFLMAO! <:-O I resemble that remark!
According to a story I heard, (may be a rumor) he actually has 2 skyboxes at Memorial Stadium. Everybody knows where his is at but the story is that he bought the second box for servicemen to use when they are home on leave to watch the games in luxury. Not sure if that is true or not but it wouldn’t surprise me at all. I am guessing he will be wearing lots of Husker gear in the film like he did in the last two.
I used to love the commentaries he did on the local radio stations every morning. I really miss those. They always started out “What the hell is this, Russia?” and were always very conservative. I had the privilege of seeing him in our local comedy club a couple times before he started playing arenas after the Blue Collar thing hit. His success is well deserved. That feller there is funny. Count me in. I plan to see it.
“Witless Protection” is a brilliant title. Reminds me of the exceptional title (regardless of how you feel about the movie itself) “Legally Blonde”.
As an aspiring writer, it’s good to know there are some conservatives and fellow freepers in the biz.
Good luck.
You should have a son named Stu.
For Micheal Moore, it's a DNC Focus Group.
Hey, I live in New Orleans. Thin skinned I ain’t- so the good-natured fun poked at Southern types is funny when it’s dead-on. And Larry is dead-on funny. Give the big guy a hug from this slightly moldy girl in LA.Thanks to both of you for the laughs- the world could use more.
Yeah...but then everybody would be asking “Where’s the beef?”, LOL!
There are some libs in Larry’s management who are constantly trying to get him to tone down the conservative rhetoric, to “broaden” his appeal (kind of like Republicans “reaching across the aisle” to Dims). It is an endless battle.
Yes, there are a few of us tilling the mission fields of Hollywood!
Kudos for hanging in and surviving Katrina. Nawlins is a great town.
