Mac1 ~ it's hard to believe that the U.K. has passed laws that prohibit or strictly control all private ownership of firearms.

I purchased one of these a couple of months ago, I guess that you wouldn't be able to own one of these in the U.K.?

Believe it. You are right regarding the M4 unless it was in 22lr/wmr - the Ruger 10/22 is legal, but any semi-auto rifle apart from calibre 22lr/wmr is illegal(banned since 1988). Alternatively they are legal as a straight pull bolt action and thus so configured are used in practical rifle shooting (like IPSC but with rifles). Still, there are bright points and this is one of them:
