Interesting.
I got my little man “Rascal” from a man that owns a farm and breeds them. They kill mice, rats, squirrels and other vermin DAILY!
They also keep the pests away like coons, strays, virtually any intruder.
They absolutely in their own way run the farm, and if need be will assist each other...
much like the wolves from which they descended.
But the thing about him is he’s as gentle as you can possibly imagine! NEVER bites other than playing. And what a digger! They can dig a rat right out of their hole!
BTW do you think the disease was related to getting snipped?
We didn’t get him fixed, the farmer said he thinks it “takes something out of them”.
Luckily we haven’t had too many issues with him other than the occasional sniffing of other dogs on my clothes...or the occasional “air-humping” out of the blue that’s fortunately rare ubt nevertheless awkward! :)
Perhaps I’ll look into breeding him and taking him back over to the farm.
Our 3 Rat Terriers sleep next to my wife and me. Chewie waits for me to get settled under the covers, then hops up on the outside edge of the mattress and snuggles next to my chest. If it's cold, he will tap me on the shoulder so he can be under the blanks. Ceri sleeps near the head of the bed between our pillows. Jasper likes the outside corner near the foot of the bed. It's always a 3 dog night at my place :-)
