Good afternoon, Dita!!
Thank you for the wonderful robin graphic and
the "First Robin" poem by Louisa May Alcott.
They are both wonderful and remind us that spring is less than a month away.
(Well .... in California anyway. : )

Happy Soon to-be Spring, MamaBear!
My nephew came today to help with some yard work.
I went out to show him what I wanted him to do and almost froze to death! ; )
I saw a few blooming Almond trees yesterday .... a sure sign of spring.
I can hardly wait and Marissa is ready to wear spring clothes to school.

Beautiful poem and card, Lori.
Thank you for your contribution.
We had a very sad morning. When Grampa Just went out to get the paper, he discovered Marissa’s kitty, Milo, had been hit by a car.
This is the third cat that she has lost and she cried like her little heart was broken.
You can keep dogs in a fenced yard but it is impossible to keep cats in unless they are confined inside the house.
Of course, we will eventually get another but Milo was special.

Oh, no. How terribly sad. My heart hurts for Marissa. I know what it is like to lose a precious cat. That's why we don't have cats anymore. We lost too many. Some just disappeared and never came home, others got hit by cars. It's just too hard to lose them.
Is that the kitty that is in the photo with Marissa that you e-mailed to me a couple days ago? The grey and white tiger-striped cat?
Give Marissa a hug for me and tell her that I know how bad she feels about losing her special Milo.

Away out here they have a name for rain and wind and fire.
The rain is Tess, the fire’s Joe and they call the wind Mariah. Mariah blows the stars around and sets the clouds a-flyin’.
Mariah makes the mountains sound like folks was out there dyin’
Special Note: Please give Marissa a hug for me too. The loss of a beloved pet
can be devastating. Once, I could hardly talk for four days.

Thanks, MamaBear.
This is the third cat she has lost. Her first, Simone, was also hit by a car.
Her second, Sassy, just disappeared. That picture was of Marissa and Sassy.
About a week after Sassy disappeared, Milo appeared in our yard. Marissa would swear that her prayers were answered. He walked up to Marissa and put his front paws on her legs asking to be picked up.
This morning, she was laughing and crying while she remembered him hiding behind a chair and then attacking me when I walked by.
It is difficult to lose a pet, but it is better to love and lose one than to never have a pet to love.
We will get another but will probably wait about a month.

Just an absolute gorgeous picture, Mama Bear! It is pretty, isn't it? California poppies and lupine, I believe, with the Sierra Nevada mountain range to the east. I am pretty sure that photo was probably taken at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve just outside of Lancaster, California, which is about an hour and a half drive south from where we live. That is what parts of our central valley look like in the spring, particularly down around the Lancaster area. But, just like with the autumn foliage back east, you have to be quick to see them at their peak because the wildflowers don't last very long before the hot desert sun dries everything up.
All of this rain we have had this winter should give us quite a colorful wildflower show next month. :-)
