And who knows what else thrown in there from the beginning of time, all to make it more interesting to dig up.
True no BS there I was story.......... got a call from a rancher who was former army four deuce mortar man. He says when he was digging up an old foundation on a structure on his ranch he found a 4.2 mortar and for safety he just pushed a few bucket loads of earth on it and had called my EOD unit. I picked up some C to counter charge it and BIP it as it was in the boonies etc and when we arrived the site was pure deep crap and mud at the edge of a old corral. My troop and I dug in that mud for at least 8 feet and found his 4.2 mortar...............after almost 6 hours of careful dig by hand in cold wet mud and manure we found a really nice old sucker pump counter weight with the leather washers still attached ......the ones that make the bullet shaped windmill counter weight look like a mortar and it had charge bags still attached etc ........
I have disliked Army Mortar men ever since.....:O)
